University Scholarships & Vo-tech Assistance Awards
KWEA offers scholarships for university students wishing to pursue a career in environmental areas as well as financial assistance for technical institute students.
The following awards are planned to be made available in 2023:
- Three university scholarships in the amounts of $1,500, $1,250, and $1,000; and
- Up to $1,000 set aside for any amount up to $500 of financial assistance for technical institute students.
University scholarship applications will be solicited beginning in February, and applications will be accepted until May 31.
The university scholarship recipients will be notified in June and will be formally presented at the KWEA annual conference luncheon (late August). The awards are limited to students attending Kansas schools. University scholarship applicants should also be, at a minimum, finishing their sophomore year in college and interested in pursuing a career in the environmental sciences. There are no financial need requirements, only an essay and other application information on academic achievement and other activities.
About Technical Institute Financial Assistance
The technical institute financial assistance being offered can be requested for any amount (up to $500) paid for or to be paid for by the applicant associated with technical training courses including transportation, books, as well as un-reimbursed course costs. Applications for vo-tech wastewater training financial assistance can be submitted for consideration anytime throughout the year.
