As of December 1, 2001, the Kansas Water Environment Association is again administering the Voluntary Certification Program in the State of Kansas.

For exam applications, eligibility requirements, and certificate class and renewals information, use the links at the right.

The current program offers certification in the following areas:

  1. Water Laboratory
  2. Wastewater Laboratory
  3. Industrial Waste
  1. Wastewater Collection
  2. Water Distribution
  3. Biosolids Management

The Voluntary Certification Program has currently over 400 certified members in Kansas. Another indicator of the success of the program is the fact that many municipalities in Kansas are using the program as a means of recognizing and promoting their personnel.

Current holders of Certificates in any of the above areas are required to acquire at least 10 hours of training in each discipline for which they hold a certificate every two years. It is the responsibility of the certificate holder to maintain a log of the training related to each certificate that he or she holds.

All certificates are issued for a period of two years and have an expiration date of September 1st of the year of expiration. The first notice of certificate of renewal once the new certificates have been reissued goes out on July 1st of the year the certificate expires. The second notice is sent out on August 1st of the year, and the final notice will is sent out September 1st (Time of Expiration). After September 1st of the year of expiration, the certificate may be cancelled. In this case, retesting may be required if one wants again to be certified. It is important that certificate holders keep us apprised of any address change so that we can stay in contact. KWEA does not want you to lose your certification status. If you do not receive a renewal notice from us please fax us at the number below or send a letter to the address below.
