Committee Objective and Goals

The Kansas Water Environment Association’s Publications Committee’s objectives are to prepare and distribute publications of the Association. Publications include the Association’s magazine, Splashings, and all other publications developed or directed by the Association or its Executive Board.

Committee Activities

The Publications Committee shall conduct, but not be limited to, the following activities:

  1. Preparation and distribution of the Association magazine, Splashings, a minimum of three times per calendar year. The magazine shall promote Association and WEF activities, inform members of upcoming educational opportunities of interest to members, provide educational articles related to the water environment business, inform members of water environment issues and changes in environmental laws, announce accomplishments and achievements of members, and offer opportunities for advertisement of services and equipment of interest to the members.
  2. Support members in submittal of articles and reports of the Association and its members to technical journals, WEF publications, and other organizations connected to the water environment industry.
  3. Establish editorial and publication rules and policies, and keep up to date.
  4. Oversee Advertising Committee related to soliciting advertisers and sponsors, establishing advertisement rates and policies, and addressing other advertising issues.
  5. Provide Splashings publications via other media (Internet, website, etc.).
  6. Review and manage publication’s budget.
  7. Assist with developing Association brochures, handbooks, and other documents (flyers, etc.) needed by the Association and its committees.
  8. The committee chair shall submit a written report to the Vice President on the committee's activities at least 30 days prior to the annual meeting. The Vice President will compile the committee reports, distribute them to the Board, and turn them over to the new vice president for use in assessing changes for the next program year.
