The Residuals Management Committee is committed to providing assistance, guidance, and demonstrating excellence to the wastewater industry, through the promotion of responsible biosolids management to protect public health, safety and the environment.

Committee Activities

The Residuals Management Committee shall conduct, but not be limited to the following activities:

  1. Meet periodically throughout the year to provide a forum for discussions of biosolids management issues.
  2. Provide articles and issues relating to biosolids management issues for publication in Splashings.
  3. In conjunction with the Government Affairs Committee, represent KWEA to KDHE and EPA on matters regarding regulations controlling residuals processing and beneficial reuse of biosolids.
  4. Facilitate a technical session at the KWEA Annual Conference with a focus on biosolids management and residuals processing issues that are important to stakeholders in the State.
  5. Apprise the KWEA Board of biosolids management issues that the Committee feels KWEA membership should be aware of.
  6. Represent KWEA to the WEF on biosolids management issues.
  7. Provide assistance and support to the membership in explaining residuals processing and biosolids management issues to local communities, agriculture, and local governing bodies.
  8. Provide a subcommittee to promote excellence in Biosolids management through annual awards.
  9. Provide and maintain a Biosolids Management Professional certification program.
  10. The committee chair shall submit a written report to the Vice President on the committee's activities at least 30 days prior to the annual meeting. The Vice President will compile the committee reports, distribute them to the Board, and turn them over to the new vice president for use in assessing changes for the next program year.
