Collection Systems – Training & Certification
Sub-Committee Chair
Joe Botinelly
The Training and Certification sub-committee serves to promote collection system training programs and voluntary certification for collection system operators.
Goals and Objectives
- Provide regular publication of collection system examination questions in the KWEA Splashings
- Promote training and certification programs offered by KETS
- Maintain a training materials library
- Maintain a current list of certified collection system operators in Kansas
- Identify successful "in-house" training program
Committee Activities
- An ABC sub-committee that met in Boston on September 10 is currently revising the collection system examination. Until that revision is complete (July 2000) we can submit sample questions from the existing exam.
- KETS is doing a good job of promoting their training and certification programs. Our sub-committee can assist by offering to moderate the sessions or monitor the exam rooms.
- This is on going. Although the library is adequately promoted at the annual conference, interest seems to be minimal at best.
- This project was completed in 1999 and is on going. With collection certification now being renewable, inactive or deceased operators will no longer be on the list.
- Some of these training programs have been identified. The question is - who is interested and how do we get the information to them?
